Library's "Great Gats-bees" Win Costume Contest at Literacy Forsyth's Spell Check Live! Event

On Tuesday, October 17, Literacy Forsyth held its 18th annual Spell Check Live! adult spelling bee fundraiser to help raise money for adults in Forsyth County with low literacy skills. FCPL’s own team, the Great Gats-Bees, made an impressive showing by coming in second place, defeated only in the final round by University of North Georgia’s Harry Potter-themed team, Luna and the Love-To-Spell-Goods.

However, the Great Gats-Bees’ stylish 1920s flapper dresses took the top prize in the costume contest! Congratulations to the Great Gats-Bees: Lisa Echols, Stephanie Hampson, Julie Boyd, and Cleo Joyce.

Also a big thank you to everyone on staff and their families who came out to support Literacy Forsyth by attending the Buzz Before the Bee, participating in the raffle drawings and silent auction, and cheering on our fabulous team. Your contributions will help ensure that underprivileged families in Forsyth County will have continued access to language and literacy education and free GED testing.

Thank you for your support!
