I was in the mood for a short, quick read and this fit the bill. A YAish coming-of-age story touted as a mystery/thriller,
Girl in Snow by Danya Kukafka grabbed my attention right away. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did based on some other reviews. For a debut novel, I thought it was pretty impressive. Was there anything really new that we haven't seen before? Not really. But I liked the fact that it was sort of strange, with characters that were misfits, and some voyeurism thrown in for good measure. Who killed Lucinda Hayes? Was it the jealous girl, the boy who worshiped her from afar, or someone off the radar completely? The mystery is solved at the end, making for a satisfying, tidy read.
