#ShelfLife - July 14, 2017

This week author Kristen Lepionka visited us on Instagram to show some love for our photo of her debut mystery The Last Place You Look. If you enjoy books written by Harlan Coben, Charlaine Harris, or Kathy Reichs, check it out and leave a comment below to let us know if you enjoyed it.

Also, teen author Terra Elan McVoy stopped by our Instagram feed to chat with patrons about autographed books and to comment on her upcoming appearance at the Cumming Library. Our teen patrons are looking forward to her visit and to hearing her speak on "How I Became a Real Writer."

Historical fiction was trending this week as book blogger Nora St. Laurent recommended Wedded to War by Jocelyn Green and we posted a shelfie of the book in our Large Type collection.

Author @terraelanmcvoy will explain “How I Became a Real Writer” at the Teen Writers Club Lock-in on Friday, July 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cumming Library. This special after-hours event is for teens in grades 6 – 12. Enjoy discussions about writing techniques with fellow teens, share and listen to original writing, and create a craft. About the author: Terra Elan McVoy has held a variety of jobs focusing on reading and writing, from managing an independent children’s bookstore, to teaching writing classes, and even answering fan mail for Captain Underpants. Terra lives and works in the same Atlanta neighborhood where her novels AFTER THE KISS, BEING FRIENDS WITH BOYS, and PURE are set.
